Since 12th October there has been a significant rise in the number of contracts for Covid related equipment. These include a large number of NHS contracts for a variety of pandemic related products including cannulas, syringes, and Laryngectomy and Tracheostomy Consumables.
In recent weeks, the UK Government has come under scrutiny for problems with some direct contracts awarded, where product delivery has not manifested. It’s undoubtedly a balancing act for all governments, respond quickly to unprecedented situations by streamlining the buying process, and in doing so, potentially risk efficiencies and deliverables. By making contracts and tenders open, opportunities are created to make the buying process more competitive and more accountable.
