New Covid Procurement Report Launches Today.

Front cover of our EU Covid-19 procurement report

We are pleased today to launch our latest report, An Assessment of European Procurement Around Covid.

The first wave of Covid-19 in Spring 2020, brought about unprecedented stresses and challenges to modern public procurement systems. To remove barriers and ensure the fact procurement of critical goods, governments throughout European states implemented emergency procurement regulations. These regulations generally relaxed the requirements that procurers need to follow, which normally add oversight or saves money in order to save time.

Our report identifies the extent that these law changes are reflected in the data. We establish overall trends and identify outliers. Over 100m rows of tenders, contracts, and spend throughout Europe were analysed in a single standardised and common format (Open Contracting Data Standard). With data across multiple transnational, national, and local sources all standardised to the same type, we are in a unique position to measure and assess this European response.
